Dear Colleagues and Partners,

The African Union Soil Observatory (AUSO) https://auso.faraafrica.org/ is a flagship initiative that aims to strengthen soil data governance and harmonize soil information systems across Africa to support evidence-based agricultural and environmental decision-making. The AUSO supported by the EC [Project: 101218840 β€” AUSO β€” HORIZON-MISS-2024-SOIL-01] is contributing to the realization of the Soil Information Component of the Soil Initiative for Africa (SIA) and its 10-year implementation Instrument, the Africa Fertilizer and Soil Health Plan (AFSH-AP).

As part of the implementation process, a continental assessment is being conducted to better understand existing soil information platforms, institutional capacities, data management practices, and stakeholder priorities. The findings will help identify practical pathways to strengthen soil health policy frameworks and soil data systems across Africa. It will also guide the development of AUSO as a coordinated system that improves access to reliable soil data, supports soil health policies, and contributes to sustainable agricultural productivity, climate resilience, and land restoration efforts across the continent.

We kindly invite you to contribute to this important exercise by completing a short questionnaire, which will take approximately 15 minutes.
