Agroecology days in Senegal

April 21-23, 2026, in Dakar, Senegal
The dynamic for agroecological transition in Senegal (DyTAES) organized jointly for the 1st time the agroecology days (JAES) and the scientific conference on agriculture sustainable intensification (CID) from April 21 to 23, 2026, in Dakar, Senegal. A major innovation of this French-language event is the knowledge forum, designed to fuel inclusive and cooperative exchanges between local stakeholders, policy makers, and scientists.
Among issues tackled, the scientific and partnership network on soil health in West Africa (Sol AfricaO), launched in May 2025, organized on April 22 a forum symposium dedicated to: Soil health and agroecology – knowledge cross-breeding to transform policy in West Africa. This symposium aims at raising the consideration of soil health as a major lever of the agroecological transition and its effective implementation in environmental and agricultural policies in West Africa. Three talks have introduced the purpose:
- Breakthroughs on the African union model law for soil sustainable management, by Edmond HIEN (Joseph Ki Zerbo University, Burkina Faso);
- Building up the soil observatory for the African Union – the AUSO project, by Matthieu BRAVIN (Cirad, France);
- Georeferenced data for informing soil health status – the example of Ivory Coast, by Jean-Baptiste ETTIEN (Félix Houphoüet Boigny University, Ivory Coast).
